Paula Terry-Lancaster FRSA was educated at independent Woodard Corporation schools in England and Wales and has degrees from the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. She has worked as a translator in the private medical sector and has also been a journalist, actor, model, editor, Executive Assistant, and a language teacher in both the UK and Madrid. She spent a decade in account management at some of the world’s largest advertising agencies, including Foote Cone & Belding and a Saatchi & Saatchi affiliate in London, and Grey Canada and DDB Needham in Toronto.
Paula is the Principal of Write First Time, whose clients have included Johnson & Johnson, Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Canadian Airlines, Procter & Gamble, Scotia McLeod, Mennen Canada, Nabisco, MDS Laboratories, Ramada Hotels of Canada, Royal Trustco, the CIBC Development Corporation and BMW (Canada) Inc., as well as organisations in the not-for-profit, tertiary and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sectors. She has written extensively on the Health & Beauty industry, and her work has appeared in national and international consumer and trade press publications.
Paula has edited work for individuals and organisations of all kinds and has specialised in work for the legal and medical communities, with her thorough understanding of the lexicons of both these professional disciplines. She has a strong background in languages, including Latin, and etymology, and has complete mastery of grammar, syntax, the different registers needed to communicate effectively to different target groups, and the need for elegant yet highly accessible writing.
Paula is a Professional Member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) and Editors NSW and is a former member of the Editors’ Association of Canada. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
